We all remember Dev Patel since his Slumdog Millionaire days, with his portrayal of Jamal Malik catapulting him into the Hollywood spotlight.
Now the 26-year-old English actor stars in Lion, a film based on Saroo Brierley’s non-fiction book, A Long Way Home.
The film is about Indian-born Saroo Brierley, played by Patel, who was adopted by Australians at the age of five.
Two decades later, he locates his biological parents’ whereabouts with the aid of Google Earth.
Starring alongside Patel is Nicole Kidman and David Wenham, who play his adoptive parents Sue and John Brierley, respectively.
Meanwhile Rooney Mara, and local Indian actors Pallavi Sharda, Sachin Joab and Arka Das also make appearances in the Garth Davis flick.
Not short of any thought-provoking themes, this film shot in India as well as Australia’s Melbourne and Hobart, touches on family, adoption, culture and technological advances simply through the first trailer. .
The countdown is on till the movie’s premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 10.
