Australia’s longest running soap Neighbours has previously been accused of showcasing a ‘white-washed’ cast.
But fans of the Channel Eleven drama can look forward to some cultural diversity next month when actors Takaya Honda and Tim Kano arrive in Ramsay Street.
Takaya will portray a dedicated doctor named David, while Tim will play the business savvy smooth talker who is a hit with the ladies.

In an official statement on the Neighbours website, the show’s Executive Producer, Jason Herbison said: ‘I’ve been excited about the Tanaka twins from when we first plotted their story six months ago, and to see them come to life by Takaya and Tim, is very thrilling and I’m delighted to have them join the Neighbours’ family’.
You may recognise Takaya from a few local productions including Benjamin Law’s The Family Law (which for the record is the first Australian show with an all-Asian cast #yay).
His showreel also boasts performances in A Gurls World, The Code and My Great Big Adventure, and he recently appeared on ABC’s iconic Play School.
Meanwhile Tim is equally as talented, known for his performance in Reservoir Hill, which landed New Zealand with its first Emmy award.
He has also starred in flicks Holding the Man and Berlin Syndrome, as well as Channel Seven drama Winners And Losers.
Cheers to some cultural diversity in Ramsay Street… we CAN’T WAIT until the Tanaka twins make their debut on September 21!
