2017 has certainly been a year like no other.
Spending my first full year at Yahoo7, I’ve had a tonne of adventures, locally and abroad, and something tells me 2018 is only going to be bigger.
Here are some of the highlights. I’ll catch you in 2018.
GRAMMYS
I jetted off to Los Angeles during the showbiz awards season for the 2017 Grammys. Thanks to Discover Los Angeles, I was Yahoo7’s representative at music’s night of nights.
LOGIES
Many of you would know that the TV Week Logie Awards are my annual television highlight of the year. Believe it or not, 2017’s actually the first year I’ve physically gone to Melbourne for the big awards night, and as expected… IT.WAS.EVERYTHING.
BAYWATCH DUTY WITH ZAC EFRON
Interviewing my bae Zac Efron after five years during his promotional tour for the Baywatch flick was a real treat. He legit looks like a cardboard cut-out in this photo but I promise he’s real.
INTERVIEWING AL GORE
I probably didn’t realise the enormity of scoring an interview with Al Gore, till I actually sat in the same room as the former US Vice President. As expected, he was incredibly intelligent and kind, and well, let’s cue the beginning of my foray into political journalism perhaps.
UTS ALUMNI
Earlier this year UTS approached me to feature in the Alumni marketing campaign. Thanks to the university’s team for trekking it down to Yahoo7 HQ, for a fun afternoon of filming, and me sharing my stories, including the iconic hairbrush one where all the celeb blogging began.
B&T MAGAZINE
It was an absolute honour to be featured in B&T magazine’s Diverse Women In Media issue, celebrating women from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Promoting more cultural diversity in Australian media is one of my biggest priorities, and I’m looking forward to pushing this further in 2018.
MELBOURNE CUP
Apart from the Logies, the spring racing carnival is another highlight in my calendar. This year I flew down to Melbourne for the race that stops the nation, as well as some pre Cup day mingling in the Birdcage on Derby Day.
MEETING THE TV DAD WE’VE ALL WANTED
I’ve always been a fan of Anupam Kher, but meeting him elevated my appreciation of the Bollywood star with no limits. After interviewing the AACTA Awards Best Asian Film juror on two occasions in Sydney, I was privileged to be personally invited to Anupam Ji’s play during his Australian stay.
INTERVIEWING HUGH JACKMAN AT THE GREATEST SHOWMAN PREMIERE
When Hugh Jackman tells you you’re incredible in your amazing dress and winning at life. The words every woman wants to hear. Enough said.
