It’s been a while since I’ve seen a Bollywood movie, but there’s one being released this month that is definitely on my to-watch list.
NOOR!
Meet Noor and Leeshie – two female Indian journalists, but with very different stories.
Starring Sonakshi Sinha, the flick revolves around the life of female journalist Noor (played by Sonakshi) as she navigates through the professional and personal impacts her career in journalism has on her life.
The promo videos for the movie have been asking fans, “Are you Noor?”, so considering I’m a young female Indian journalist who also happens to wear hipster glasses, I decided to try and answer that here.
The trailer shows Noor slap a few labels on phases she’s going through, so I’m going to do a checklist and see where I measure up in terms of similarity.
#EpicHangover – Can’t relate
My close pals will know I’m quite the lightweight, and to top that off, I don’t drink much alcohol at all.
#WeightyIssues – I can relate
I think every girl has some body insecurities at some time or another. We’ve all had that awkward moment when we don’t quite fit into our jeans for the new season, so I guess I can relate a bit to Noor here.
#WorkSucks – Can’t relate
I’m pretty thrilled to be loving my job at the moment, and when I’ve got this blog on the side to write about topics beyond mainstream entertainment, I can’t really be complaining.
#NoLoveLife – I can relate
Well I’m single, aren’t I? Enough said!
We both are determined to get to the bottom of a story and do it justice.
Then at this point in the trailer, we see Noor transform from ‘Simple Savatri’ to ‘Naughty Savatri’, and that’s pretty much where I go, “ok the similarities now stop”.
But while our stories are not the same, I like the fact that both Noor and I are determined to get to the bottom of a story and do it justice for the audience… so I can’t wait to see what else she has in store for us when the film hits cinemas on April 21.
