Indian actress Priyanka Chopra has hit back at the stereotypes associated with the Bollywood film industry.
The 33-year-old stunner has told BBC: ‘To convince another part of the world that Bollywood is not just jokers who break in to song and dance was very difficult.
‘I’m literally ploughing the ground and making people understand that Indian actors are not a joke.’
She added: ‘People think we’re a spoof of Hollywood and we’re not. We’re one of the most prolific film industries in the world. We speak Hindi which is spoken in one country, but 40% of our business comes from outside of India’.
Priyanka had made her big break in Hollywood in the past year, starring on ABC drama Quantico.
She is also set to star in the upcoming Baywatch remake, alongside the likes of Zac “Hottie” Efron and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
Priyanka is just one of the many famous faces from India in Spain this weekend for the 2016 IIFA Awards.
