EXCLUSIVE – I AM STARSTRUCK CHATS TO TIMOMATIC

At I Am Starstruck, we love to support our fave Aussie stars and right now it’s all about TIMOMATIC!

We caught up with the Australia’s Got Talent judge to talk about his grand final predictions, new music and his upcoming MTV EMA gig.

I Am Starstruck: We’ve heard that you’re performing at the MTV EMA live site event at Melbourne’s Federation Square on Monday November 11.  What can we expect from your performance on the night?  

Timomatic: You can expect the performance of my latest singles and hits and you can expect the ultimate dance party.  For me it’s about making sure that everyone that’s there has the most amazing time possible so you can expect a lot of fun.

I Am Starstruck: Your newest hit Waterfalls is an absolute hit.  What was your inspiration behind the song and its music video.

Timomatic: The producer Arnthor Birgissonfrom Sweden who I wrote it with, well we had this incredible beat and bridge and I just started writing to it.  The words came out and it just formed into this waterfalls kind of theme.

The visual was also inspired by the music.

I Am Starstruck: Do you come up with your own dance moves?

Timomatic: Yes, I do.

I Am Starstruck: Your girlfriend Talia has featured in your Parachutes music video and helped with choreography.  Is she your muse when it comes to songwriting?

Timomatic: She’s always around me when it comes to writing songs, definitely on an aesthetic level of being a muse.  But also on a business level, she is a tough and smart cookie that one.  So we all have to impress her. 

I Am Starstruck: Who is your favourite to win Australia’s Got Talent?

Timomatic: We’re talking about 12 amazing acts.  I think it can be between Tommy Franklin, Raymond Crow and Uncle Jed.  They all have something very unique.  But honestly it’s anyone’s game. 

I Am Starstruck: What was it like working with the other judges including successful international names Geri Halliwell and Dawn French?

Timomatic: It’s been amazing.  I’ve just been really enriched and I feel I’ve become a better TV personality being around these amazing people who have done so well in their careers.  And I’m just learning.  It’s really cool.

I Am Starstruck: You started off on two reality shows in a bid to launch your career, So You Think You Can Dance and Australia’s Got Talent.  Is that the best way to break into the industry?

Timomatic: I think it’s definitely a possible way right now.  It’s not for everyone.  What people need to remember is that it’s about the work you put in before the show, during the show and after the show – the whole combination of everything.  You have to work pretty hard regardless. 

I Am Starstruck: What can we expect from you this Summer and in the new year?

Timomatic: This Summer I will be dropping a Summer single.  It’s going to be really big, fun and fresh.  And during the new year, I’ll be taking on the world.  I’ll be coming back and forth from LA.  I’m hoping to branch out a bit more and get some acting jobs going on and get into that medium. 

I’ll hopefully be doing AGT again so it’s all happening.
